TBE vaccination can prevent tick-borne encephalitis and the complications it can cause
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is a human viral infectious disease involving the central nervous system that occurs in many parts of Europe and also in Finland. The virus is transmitted by the bite of infected ticks. In areas where TBE is common, people with outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, camping, collecting mushrooms and berries and orienteering are potentially at risk of infection. TBE vaccination can prevent TBE and the complications it can cause. TBE vaccine is available for adults and children over 1 year old.

Shingles vaccine is recommended for all adults 50 years and older
About 1 in every 3 people in Finland will have shingles in their lifetime. The risk of shingles increases with age. Shingles vaccination is the only way to protect against shingles and related complications, such as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). The vaccine is given as a two-dose series. Vaccination is recommended for all adults 50 years and older with healthy immune systems and adults 18 years and older who have weakened immune systems. If you had shingles in the past, vaccine can help prevent future occurrences of the disease.
